Easter Apple Crisp

Ingredients

Crumble:

  • 1 1/4 C Flour
  • 1/3 C Granulated Sugar
  • 1/3 C  Brown Sugar
  • 1 C Rolled Oats
  • 1 1/2 sticks of Butter (room temp)
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 2/3 C Chopped Nuts (your choice, I used Pecans)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Apple Filling:

  • 3/4 C Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 C Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Stick of Butter
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • 3 TB Corn Starch
  • 1 tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 6 Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and sliced into 16 slices per apple
  • 1 TB Lemon Juice (Mix with sliced apples to prevent browning)

Apple Crumble:

  1. Combine flour, granulated sugar. brown sugar.
  2. Blend in butter with pastry shears until crumbly.
  3. Add Rolled Oats and Vanilla.  Mix.
  4. Add Nuts.  Mix.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Apple Filling:

  1. Combine granulated sugar, brown sugar, corn starch, salt, cinnamon and allspice. Mix.
  2. Add apples to sugar mix and toss.
  3. Melt butter.  Add Vanilla to butter.
  4. Pour butter mix into pan (9X13).
  5. Add apple mix to pan and spread evenly.
  6. Pour crumb mixture over apples.  Spread evenly.
  7. Bake in smoker at 350 F  for about 1 hour.
