How To: Use Starter Squares

Lighting Starter Squares

  1. Break off 1 to 2 squares.
Fill the bed of the grill with the appropriate amount of charcoal.
  2. Arrange Charcoal in a Pyramid in the Center of the Grill.
Forming a small pyramid to help increase coal-to-coal contact and help the fire spread. Starter Squares should be partially covered by charcoal. Keep the Starter Square end exposed to allow for lighting access.
  3. Add additional charcoal to form a small pyramid.
Add additional charcoal on top of the base and the Starter Squares, forming a small pyramid to help increase coal-to-coal contact and help the fire spread. Starter Squares should be partially covered by charcoal. Keep the Starter Square end exposed to allow for lighting access.
  4. Light All-Natural Starter Squares.
With a long-stemmed lighter, light the end of the starter square and wait as the fire spreads. When the charcoal is covered with gray ash, spread evenly and begin cooking.
